UP Police sends Notice to Dead Man for causing Violence during CAA Protest

GUWAHATI: The Yogi Adityanath government is all set to recover funds from the rioters to repair the public properties being damaged during the ongoing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

In this regard, the UP government has identified around 200 protestors and sent out notices asking them to justify why any action should not be taken against them for indulging in violence during the anti-CAA protests.

However, the Firozabad Police had embarrassed themselves by sending out notice to a 94-year-old man named Banne Khan, who has been dead for six years.

Two more elderly persons in their 90s, one of whom is bedridden and another just returned from a Delhi hospital, have also been served similar notices.

They have been asked to appear before the government magistrate and give a bail application after depositing Rs 10 lakhs. After the goof up, the UP government has promised to rectify this mistake made by them.

Firozabad City Magistrate Kunwar Pankaj Singh accepted the mistake and assured that it will be rectified soon.
