First Phase Of Lok Sabha Elections Under Way In Assam, Live Voting Updates

 

GUWAHATI: The first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha election in Assam is being held today April 19 as the voting percentage as of 5:00 pm is 70.77%.

A total of 35 candidates are contesting in the first phase election from Assam in five constituencies namely Kaziranga, Sonitpur, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, and Lakhimpur.

The districts under these 5 parliamentary constituencies are Sonitpur, Nagaon, Biswanath, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Golaghat, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Majuli, and Charaideo.

The major candidates from the parliamentary constituencies in the first phase of polls are Lurinjyoti Gogoi, Sarbananda Sonowal, Roselina Tirkey, Gaurav Gogoi, Pradan Baruah, Uday Shankar Hazaika among others.

The second phase also will have 5 Parliamentary Constituencies, consisting of Darrang-Ualguri(Gen), Diphu(ST), Karimganj(Gen), Silchar(SC), and Nagaon(Gen) where the date of the poll for the second phase is April 26.
