Second Phase Of Polling For Lok Sabha Elections Underway; Five Seats Up For Grabs In Assam

 

GUWAHATI: Voting commenced for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections at 7 AM on April 26, encompassing 88 parliamentary constituencies nationwide, including five seats in Assam.

With a total of 1,210 candidates vying for victory in phase 2, the polling process has unfolded smoothly so far, with no notable incidents reported across the 9,133 polling stations established in the five constituencies of the 2nd phase - Darrang-Udalguri, Diphu (ST), Karimganj, Silchar (SC), and Nagaon.

Polling will continue until 5 PM across 13 states and union territories during phase 2.

In Assam, 61 candidates are contesting across the five constituencies currently undergoing voting.

Karimganj boasts the highest number of candidates, with 24 in the fray, while Diphu has the lowest at 5.

Meanwhile, voting is also underway in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
