While the voting process was slated to commence from 7 AM to 6 PM, certain polling centers encountered delays due to technical glitches with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

These hiccups, although temporary, underscored the need for stringent measures to ensure the seamless functioning of electoral machinery.

Malfunctions were reported at various locations, including educational institutions and community centers in Lakhimpur's Bihpuria, Demow, Rangapara, Mariani, and Teok. Despite these challenges, the Election Commission swiftly addressed the issues.

Similarly, a vehicle ferrying an EVM faced an unexpected mishap in Lakhimpur constituency when it partially submerged in a river due to a sudden rise in water level.

The incident occurred en route to the Amarpur area in Sadiya, where the EVM was slated for replacement following the detection of a technical glitch during the morning polling session.

However, the intervention of authorities ensured that the situation was promptly brought under control, averting any potential disruption to the voting process.

Amidst these developments, the Northeastern states emerged as beacons of exemplary civic engagement, recording higher voter turnout compared to their counterparts in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections on April 19.
