Assam: More Females Than Males Vote In Lok Sabha Elections 2024

 

GUWAHATI: Females outvoted males in the just-concluded three-phase Lok Sabha elections in Assam. 


According to final official data, females recorded 81.71 per cent voting against their male counterparts’ 81.42.
The number of females who voted was 10004348 while male voters numbered 9983851.


Third gender voters recorded a percentage of 18.81 with 76 of them voting.

The number of electors who cast their votes was 19988275, which is 81.56 per cent of the24506236 voters (excluding service voters). Of the total number of voters, females were 12243734 and males 12262098; third gender voters were 404.


Of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam, the first two phases on April 19 and 26 respectively covered five seats each while the third and final phase that concluded on Tuesday, May 7 covered the remaining four seats, including Guwahati.


Assam recorded the highest voter turnout in the third phase across the country.
The last of the seven-phase polling in the country to elect the 18th Lok Sabha will be held on June 1 before the counting on June 4.
