Theft Of Fire Fighting Equipment At GMCH: Suspect Caught

 

GUWAHATI: A theft incident of fire fighting hoses and pipes has been reported at the Superspeciality Hospital Campus, GMCH raising questions about campus security. The suspect Kankan Deka was caught by the private security team at GMCH early in the morning of Thursday, October 17 at about 5:30 AM.

According to the suspect, he sold the fire fighting equipment stolen to Scrap dealers of Ulubari locality Afridul, Almor Ali and Shahidul Box. Meanwhile, all the items were recovered from two scrap dumps in Rupnagar and Ulubari in Guwahati. The total value of the stolen goods is more than ₹50,000.

Such thefts take place quite frequently on campus, and this has also been brought to the notice of the police  more than once. The hospital administration has reportedly appealed to the Bhangagarh police station to conduct an inquiry into this case.
