GUWAHATI: Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal has posted a photograph of the 'Bard of Brahmaputra' Late Bhupen Hazarika with the Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee on social media, which has been winning hearts.

Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee took keen interest in the development of northeast and played an instrumental role in creating DoNER to expedite the overall development of the region, specially the Barak Valley. It was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who approved the ambitious project of East-West Corridor from Silchar to Saurashtra.

The Former Prime Minister who is fondly called 'People's Leader' visited the remote corners of the northeast only to realize the problems faced by the people. The foundation stone of the Bogibeel Project was also laid during his tenure. He dedicated Numaligarh Refinery and Naranarayan Bridge to the nation, and supported the Assam Agitation movement.

On the other hand, Late Bhupen Hazarika has always been considered a 'People's Poet.' With the mighty pen in hand, the artist wrote poems and songs dedicated to the people of Assam. His words acted like a bridge for the people from different parts of the state.

Both Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Bhupen Hazarika dedicated their lives for the masses, and this photo is a heartfelt tribute to both the eminent personalities.

Sarbananda Sonowal in the photo mentions that Brahmaputra Valley and Barak Valley will carry forward their great legacy for times to come.
