8 Candidates Contesting For Guwahati Lok Sabha Constituency 

 

GUWAHATI: Eight candidates will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the No. 5 Guwahati constituency after nomination papers for two others were rejected. This development follows the announcement by the Kamrup Metropolitan District Election Officer on Monday. Out of the ten total nominations submitted, two were disqualified, leaving a field of eight candidates who officially confirmed their candidacies by not withdrawing by the deadline.

The confirmed candidates represent a mix of major political parties, lesser-known entities, and independent candidates. Among the final list are Bijuli Kalita Medhi of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mira Borthakur Goswami of the Indian National Congress (INC), Samad Choudhury of the Bharatiya Gana Parishad (BGP), Shejon Goyary of the Bahujan Maha Party, Amitabh Sharma of the Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal, Dipak Kumar Boro of the Voters Party International, independent candidate Kazi Nekib Ahmed, and Colonel Gokul Chandra Singha.

The electoral contest in Guwahati promises to be competitive, with voting set to commence at 7 a.m. on May 7.
