GUWAHATI: Firefighters along with an animal activist rescued a community dog, Lilly, from a 25-foot well on a private property at Noonmati on April 24.
Talking to GPlus, Abhay Bora, the animal activist, expressed concern over the danger posed by the well, which has become a deadly trap for many animals.

He said, "Lilly fell into the well three days ago, and despite our relentless efforts to locate him, we couldn't find him until late at night," Bora recounted. "Upon hearing his cries, we discovered him trapped inside the 25-foot deep well, with broken glass fragments, adding to the danger."
"We reached out to the fire brigade team, who assisted in the rescue mission," Bora informed GPlus.
The well, located on private property, has been left partially constructed.

When GPlus contacted the owner, he cited financial constraints for the delay in installing a gate to block access to the well, but assured measures would be taken if posed a threat.
"The property is privately owned, and our absence for extended periods tends to draw people there," the owner explained. "Unfortunately, this often results in gatherings leading to disturbances."
