Protests staged by various bodies in Dispur

Nearly hundreds of Anganwadi workers from across the State staged a protest, under the banner of Assam State Mini Anganwadi Workers’ Union, at Last Gate on Monday, demanding the government to fulfill its promise on increasing the minimum wage. As per the demand of the workers, the minimum wage of the workers should be raised to Rs 18,000 per month. Several other organizations and bodies also staged protests at Dispur Last Gate, demanding the government to resolve their grievances. The Assam State Kisan Sabha has demanded immediate cancellation of the deal of allotment of land to Patanjali Yogapith in the BTAD, besides implementation of ‘Crop Insurance Scheme.’ The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS)’s Kamrup (M) district committee demanded immediate allotment of land patta to the people residing on hills, in forest and on the bank of water bodies in Guwahati. The Middle Assam AIIMS Demand Committee, which has been spearheading a movement for an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Raha in central Assam’s Nagaon district, today, renewed its agitation during the protest in Dispur. The members of the committee staged a six-hour sit-in at Last Gate near here today.
