Guwahati: School Van Accident Kills One Near Borjhar, Leaves Six Others Injured

 

GUWAHATI: A vehicle hit a school van in a head-on collision causing major casualties in the Borjhar area of Guwahati on April 19.

In the hit-and-run incident near the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on the outskirts of Guwahati, one person lost their life while six others, including school children, sustained injuries. The mishap occurred when a vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the school van.

The driver of the van was killed instantly, while several others, including teachers and school children, suffered severe injuries.

The incident happened as the school van was nearing its destination at St Claret School in Borjhar. It was reported that the oncoming vehicle collided with the van before speeding away from the scene.

Talking to GPlus, a traffic official from Azara Police Station said, “The accident occurred at around 7-7:30 AM in the morning when both of the vehicles collided. The driver was killed on the spot. The passengers were taken initially to a local hospital but then some of them were shifted to Excelcare and others to GMCH for more medical assistance. They are under observation for now. We are looking into the incident for further investigation.”
