Guwahati Airport to be the hub for Project UDAN of North-East and ASEAN regions

Dharmendra Kumar Karma, Regional Executive Director, AAI, while speaking at Advantage Assam said that Guwahati Airport will be the hub for Project Udan of North-East and ASEAN regions. He added that under this Udan scheme, small airports will be developed in towns like Jorhat, Tezpur etc.  

Amor Abrol, MD and CEO, Air Asia, India stressed on development of necessary infrastructure to cater to the need of international flight service. He said that airports need to be kept open and operative during night hours from 10 pm to 6 am. He assured that Air Asia will connect Guwahati with neighbouring countries in near future.

Captain GR Gopinath, Chairman and CEO Deccan Aviation advocated for building airports in small Indian cities.

Debojo Maharshi, CMO, Spice Jet underscored the necessity to explore the possibility of introducing sea plane in major Indian waterways like the Brahmaputra. He said that the day is not far when a tourist will have his breakfast in Guwahati and leave for an elephant safari in Kaziranga and Manas after an hour through sea plane.

Dr B P Sharma, CMD, Pawan Hans Pawan Hans is going to add 52 more towns to its service map and 20 percent of these towns will be in Assam.
