GUWAHATI: Section 144 has been imposed at Kaziranga National Park (KNP) in order to prevent community fishing during Uruka.

Section 144 has been ordered at Burhapahar, Bagori, and all other major ranges in the vicinity of the Kaziranga National Park in order to prevent community fishing during Uruka.

This was informed to G Plus by KNP Director P Sivakumar.

Earlier, as per sources, a section of people entered the park for fishing activities which posed a threat to the animals and other wildlife. As such, the fishing tradition has been banned and Section 144 has been imposed on January 13 and 14.

However, the aforementioned order is only limited to community fishing and doesn't deter any tourist-related activities.
