Zubeen confesses to slamming Bharat Ratna award for Late Bhupen Hazarika

Zubeen Garg through an Instagram post has confirmed that the 'controversial voice notes' made in connection with Bharat Ratna to Late Bhupen Hazarika was infact 'his'.

This happened just few hours after the Bard of Brahmaputra, Late Bhupen Hazarika was conferred with the Bharat Ratna award, a voice call started making the rounds on WhatsApp

The voice strongly resembled that of Zubeen Garg. Allegedly, the person behind the voice call had slammed the prestigious award with harsh words..

Several people took to the social media to slam Zubeen for disrespecting the award and the music maestro.

Zubeen put up a post on his social media channels which read:

I m gifted for you. I gift myself to you. I m tired of th constant attempt of yours to destroy me. I have never betrayed anyone, never destroyed anyone, never deprived - then when it comes to me, why you try to tear me apart! You can't. I m strong. I stand on my own. I never begged. What I became I became on my own. What I had I gave all to my own people. Yes that was my voice. I don't deny. I have that courage to say. Yes I said it. But why I said it? Why after 8 years they will use his name to motivate us politically? Why this sudden love? He is beyond that. He lives with us. He should have got it 10 years back when he was alive. When he was alone, who stood with him? Why suddenly they gave this to him? To suppress the protest against Citizenship Amendment Bill? You should know it. Bhupen Mama is a gift, not a tool to be used for their political motivation. It can never be about Bhupen Mama, it is neither about Bharat Ratna. It is all about the politics behind that. I have a journey of decades amidst music n cinema n people. I know what does he mean. I know who he was. And thats why it kills me when I see him being used. You should have got the sentiment. But you wasted two days after me n forgot the issue. But i m still with the issue. I m honest enough in my work. I don't wanna prove anything to anyone. But I hate the dogs barking behind me. I m the tiger. I will be like that. Kharghuli is open for you. I m ready to talk. If you have anything, come n talk. And if you hate me this way, let me leave Assam. I can stay anywhere.

On Sunday, Zubeen Garg, through this Instagram post clarified his involvement and confirmed that the voice was 'his.' He also clarified that while he has strong respect for the legendary singer, he strongly condemns that his contribution was used for political purpose
