GUWAHATI: Two new foot over-bridges equipped with lifts and escalator have been inaugurated in GS Road area of Guwahati.
The bridges located at Ganeshguri (near Apollo Hospital) and Christian Basti (near post office) were inaugurated by Assam PWD minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 1, Monday.
While the bridge will be operational 24*7, the escalator and lifts will be operational from 7AM to 2AM tentatively.
Upon inauguration, hundreds of Guwahatians were seen gathering around both the bridge and clicking selfies. This caused massive traffic jam in the vicinity.
The government of Assam has hired two security officials to monitor each of the bridge, minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed regarding the security measures being taken.
