According to the complaint submitted on April 20, the incident took place on April 18, when a woman named Kavita Shah, along with her daughter-in-law and son Sneha and Sabi Shah reportedly assaulted a street dog without provocation, leaving it critically injured. The dog was later rescued with the help of local residents and the Prapti Foundation and is currently undergoing treatment at a veterinary facility.
The severely injured adult stray dog was rescued and brought in for treatment to the State Veterinary Dispensary in Ponka, Golaghat, by members of Prapti Foundation.
Veterinary doctors attending to the canine confirmed a blunt injury on the frontal part of its skull, measuring around two inches in length and one inch in breadth. The dog also showed swelling on its face and neck, along with traces of blood coming from its mouth.
According to the medical report, the injury appears to be the result of a strong blow to the head. The dog is currently being administered intravenous antibiotics, pain relief injections, and saline. A soft, semi-liquid diet has also been prescribed during the recovery period.
Further investigation is underway.
