TMC leader shot dead in Kolkata

GUWAHATI: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Nirmal Kundu was shot dead by three unidentified bike-borne assailants in North Kolkata's Dum Dum area on June 4, Tuesday at around 7:45 PM. 

Kundu was a TMC President of Ward 6, under Dum Dum municipality, which comes under the limits of Nimta Police Station. He was shot twice from a point-blank range and was soon after rushed to the ICU of a local nursing home in Belghoria where he was declared 'brought dead'.

Reportedly, Kundu was interacting with a few party workers in front of a tea stall less than a kilometer away from Belghoria station when the attack took place. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.

Eye-witnesses said that two bike-borne men came and stopped near Kundu. The pillion rider took out a pistol and fired two round at Kundu. One bullet hit his head, while the other hit his shoulder. The accused managed to escape even after the locals tried to chase them.
