GUWAHATI: The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has been recognised as one of the world's top universities for the study of data science and petroleum engineering subjects, as per the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by subject.
IIT Guwahati has secured a global ranking of 51-70 in data science and 51-100 in petroleum engineering. Compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a global higher education analytics firm, the rankings highlight the world's best universities for 55 academic disciplines.

IIT Guwahati has also shown improvement in the rankings of broad subject areas such as engineering & technology and natural science. The institute has also witnessed an improvement in the rank of four subjects this year, including chemistry, biological sciences, environmental studies, and economic & econometrics.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024 incorporate new academic disciplines such as music and employ five key metrics, including reputation indicators based on surveys of academics and employers, citations per paper, H-Index, and international research network.
