GUWAHATI: Guwahati police recovered 13 stolen Remote Radio Units (RRUs) and arrested five individuals in connection with two separate cases linked to an RRU theft racket.

The recoveries were made by a team from Garchuk Police Station on Monday, April 14, working in coordination with the Special Operations Group (SOG) and ISBT Outpost.
Acting on a tip-off, police first conducted a house search in Hengrabari, where 11 suspected stolen RRUs were recovered from the residence of Deepak Kumar Singh, aged 38, a resident of Ujjal Nagar.
Following further investigation, two more individuals were arrested — Raj Pandey (27) from Baksar in Bihar and Nishi Arya (32) from Dhemaji.
In a separate operation based on another intelligence input, a car was intercepted and two RRUs suspected to be stolen were recovered from the vehicle on the same day. Pritam Roy (23) of Hatigaon and Asadur Rohman (22) of Barpeta were arrested in this connection.
The police have initiated legal proceedings against all the accused, while further investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of the racket and the network involved in the theft and distribution of the RRUs.
