GUWAHATI: A thief was arrested on Thursday, January 30 by a team from Bhangagarh Police Station after he was caught stealing batteries from an ATM. The accused, identified as 18-year-old Rajkumar Sharma, was found in possession of two stolen batteries.

According to police sources, the theft came to light after reports surfaced about missing batteries from an ATM in the Bhangagarh area. Acting on intelligence, the police conducted an immediate operation and arrested Sharma.
“We had been tracking him for a while. He has a history of theft and was involved in similar crimes before. Today, we caught him red-handed and recovered two stolen batteries from his possession,” said a police official from Bhangagarh PS.
The accused is a resident of Ganeshguri, Narkasur Pahar, Shiv Mandir Path under Dispur Police Station in Kamrup (M). He was taken into custody and is currently being interrogated to determine if he has links to other thefts in the city.
Further investigation is underway.
