Study Materials distributed to Amchang Eviction affected students

According to a survey conducted by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department on Sunday, as many as 418 students were affected in the recent Amchang eviction drive which was carried out by the Assam Government. Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner M Angamuthu said the two schools demolished during the eviction are still functioning from their sites through makeshift arrangements.

The survey team visited Jana Simalu High School and interacted with the students and the headmaster of the school. They collected the list of affected students. The survey team also collected the list of affected students of Botahguli LP School which was demolished in the recent eviction drive.

According to the survey, 189 LP school students, 199 high school students and 30 college students have been affected in the recent eviction drive, the DC said.

The administration claimed that Botahguli LP School is functioning normally and students are attending classes regularly.

“Considering the forthcoming annual examinations to be held this month, the administration has distributed 300 textbooks, 500 exercise books, 36 pencil boxes, besides pencils and other stationery items. The survey team also visited Jana Simalu HS School and met the students and teachers. The school will hold its annual examination from December 6. To facilitate the examination, we have distributed some materials like water filters, school bags, white board, etc.,” Angamuthu added.

Jana Simalu High School is not an HSLC examination centre and its students appear for HSLC exam at Ganesh Mandir Higher Secondary School which is a centre for holding the HSLC examination, and as “such there should not be any issues for the examination,” he said.
