Sharjeel Imam asks Muslims to cut off North-East from India

GUWAHATI: Former JNU student Sharjeel Imam who has been organising the protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) at Shaheen Bagh said that their main aim is to cut Assam and north-east from India.

He said that Muslims are in such great numbers that they can cut out the entire North-East from the rest of India.

Referring to the Chicken Neck corridor in Siliguri, which connects India to the northeast, Imam asked people to join in large numbers and block the railway tracks and roads.

“If we all come together, then we can separate the north-east from India. If not permanently, then at least for one to two months we can do this. It will take the administration at least one month to disperse all of them. It is our responsibility to cut Assam from India. When this will happen, only then the centre will listen to us,” said Imam.

Meanwhile, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state government has taken cognizance of the seditious statement and has decided to register a case against Imam.
