GUWAHATI: Members of All Assam Sanyogi Siksha Karmi Union staged a protest against the education department in front of the Mission Director office of Assam Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Mission in Kahilipara, on Tuesday, November 20.

Over 500 protestors came together off which over 100 were detained while protesting by demanding the government to regularize their jobs and to conduct special TET exam for them.

They are unemployed after their contract as Sanyogi Siksha Karmi (SSK) ended in 2012.

In 2005, around 10, 000 teaches were appointed as SSK and after their tenure ended in 2012. They said they want the government to abide by the promises of reappointing them in schools to teach at pre-primary level.

Protestors said they are trying to negotiate with the government since 2012 but have only received fake promises.
