GUWAHATI: The Government of India has released ₹272.14 crore as advance first installment of central assistance to Assam, as per a notification on July 16.

This funding is designated for the intra-state handling of foodgrains and covering both basic and additional margins for fair price shop (FPS) dealers.
This financial support will ensure the continuation of nutritional security for the people of Assam by providing free foodgrains under the state's Anna Sewa Din initiative. The allocation aims to strengthen the food distribution network and support FPS dealers, facilitating smooth and efficient delivery of essential food supplies to the population.
