GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has declared a tariff subsidy of ₹200 crore for the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) during the State Cabinet Meeting held on January 1, 2024.
This move has been undertaken to alleviate the financial burden on low-income households. The subsidy aims to provide much-needed relief to approximately 59 lakh Below the Poverty Line (BPL) and domestic consumers in Assam who have been grappling with the challenges of high electricity tariffs.
The subsidy is expected to have a direct and positive impact on the household budgets of the beneficiaries, allowing them to better manage their expenses.
