Notification Issued For First Phase Of Lok Sabha Elections In Assam

GUWAHATI: The Chief Electoral Officer's Media Cell in Assam issued a press release on March 20, announcing the notification for the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in the state. The notification pertains to five parliamentary constituencies (HPCs) in Assam.

According to the press release, the polling date for these five parliamentary constituencies—10-Kaziranga, 11-Sonitpur, 12-Lakhimpur, 13-Dibrugarh, and 14-Jorhat—is set for April 19th. Candidates interested in contesting in these constituencies must submit their nomination papers by March 27. The Election Commission will scrutinise the nomination papers on March 28th, and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 30.

Furthermore, the press release highlighted that no nomination papers were filed by any candidate on the day of the notification.

The press release also states that the counting of votes for these constituencies will take place on June 4, with the completion of the election process expected by June 6, 2024.
