GUWAHATI: A wave of shock and sorrow has gripped Chaygaon in Assam’s Kamrup district after a teenage girl allegedly died by suicide, apparently distraught over not finding her roll number in the HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) examination results declared on Friday, April 11.

The deceased was a student of Chaygaon Higher Secondary School. According to police, the body has been sent to GMCH for post-mortem.
Chaygaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kamakhya Mishra said investigation was underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death. “We have only heard that she had failed, but we are investigating the matter,” he said, adding a case of unnatural death has been registered in this connection.
