16.5-ft-Long King Cobra Rescued From Cachar Tea Garden In Assam 

 

GUWAHATI: A massive 16.5-foot-long king cobra was rescued from Subhang Tea Garden village at Udarbond in Cachar district of Assam on Friday, April 11.

The operation was carried out by the Barak Valley Wildlife Division’s rescue team.



The snake was first spotted moving through houses in the village, triggering fear among residents. A rescue call was made early in the morning, and the team immediately rushed to the location. 

Talking to GPlus, Trikal Chakraborty, one of the rescuers said, "We have rescued many king cobras over the years, but never anything of this size. This is a record for Barak Valley." 
The rescue operation lasted nearly three hours, as the cobra kept slipping into different homes. Managing the large crowd that had gathered while ensuring the safety of both the animal and the villagers added to the challenge." 

Along with Manashjyoti Pegu, the team successfully completed the rescue and later released the king cobra into a protected forest area.
