GUWAHATI: Out of the 15 miners who were trapped in a flooded rathole mine at Ksan village in the East Jaintia Hills district, only one body has been detected and brought to its mouth by naval divers on January 17.
The body was spotted after 32 days since the miners were trapped due to water gushing inside the mine on December 13. The Navy personnel found the body using an underwater ROV (remotely operated vehicle) at a depth of about 160-210 feet, according to the Navy officials.

Many other central agencies are involved in the rescue operation including Indian Navy, Hyderabad based National Geophysical Research Institute, Coal India Limited, Chennai based Plany’s Technologies and Odisha fire service, Kirloskar Brothers Limited.
The Supreme Court has asked the Meghalaya Government to take help from these experts and to continue its search.

It is to be mentioned that there were a total of 20 miners inside the rathole mining site; 5 escaped and the other 14 are yet to be found.
