Sa Re Ga Ma Arts of Music, the organisation behind the event, had obtained permission from the police to hold the prestigious awards ceremony, promising a star-studded affair with performances by renowned artistes, including Bollywood singer Jubin Nautiyal.

However, upon field verification earlier today, it was discovered that there were no preparations under way at the stadium.

Concerns grew as reports emerged that passes and tickets had been sold or distributed to the public, raising expectations for an evening filled with music and celebration. However, disappointed attendees arrived at the venue only to find no signs of the event taking place.

Authorities have issued a statement urging the public not to create any disturbances at the venue and have assured that complaints filed regarding the cancellation will be thoroughly investigated.

"The interested public who procured passes and tickets for the event are hereby informed that there is no such programme tonight at Nehru Stadium," the city police informed.

A volunteer of the event talking to GPlus said, "We were asked to volunteer for the programme and they were supposed to pay us. We have been working tirelessly since last night and just half an hour ago, the organiser informed us that the show has been cancelled."

"We have heard that there were some issues with the money hence it was cancelled. But still, someone should have informed us before as all the volunteers were waiting at the venue throughout the day," the volunteer further said.

The organizers have issued a statement attributing the cancellation of the event to technical difficulties and stated that the ticket holders will be provided with a refund.

"Due to unforeseen technical problems resulting from equipment malfunction, specifically, two trucks out of the allocated five have encountered delays, preventing the timely setup of essential equipment necessary for the event. Regrettably, this impediment renders it impossible for us to commence the concert as scheduled. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause and assure you that refunds will be processed within 7-10 working days," the organizers said in a statement.

On March 28, the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic issued a traffic guideline restricting the movement of vehicles on B Borooah Road for the event.
