GUWAHATI: One Tauseef Ali Farooqui claiming to be a student of IIT-G on March 23 declared in an “open letter” on LinkedIn that he was headed to join ISIS after having done his “repentance” for having “ignorantly strayed.”

He said his journey would begin from Pan Bazar and dared anybody to confront him.
An official of the IIT-Guwahati told GPlus that the police were likely to visit the institute to make enquiries in this connection.
Farooqui claims he was a fourth-year student of B.Tech Biotechnology in IIT-G where he has been studying since November 2020.
As per his account, he was also a part of the Technical Team of the Research Conclave at IIT Guwahati, the External Reach Team of the Electronic Club of IIT and a Core Team member of the Debating Society of IIT Guwahati.
Apart from the open letter, there’s no other activity from Tauseef on his LinkedIn account
