Gold Chain Snatchers Caught Near Swariya Place In Guwahati, Four Arrested

 

GUWAHATI: Basistha Police Station arrested a group of veteran snatchers on Monday, March 31, involved in multiple thefts, following a gold chain snatching incident near Swariya Place No. 18. The crime occurred while the victim was returning from St. Joseph’s High School, Kundil Nagar.

During the investigation, police apprehended the suspects and the receiver: Kishor Medhi aka Chintu (46) from Satgaon, Amir Ali (37) from Panjabari, Dipankar Karmakar alias Babu (42) from Odalbakra, and Subhankar Karmakar alias Ponku (35) from Lalganesh. Authorities also arrested the receiver, who admitted to melting down stolen gold chains.

The scooty (AS01FN9641) used in the crime, along with the suspects' clothes and helmet, were recovered and seized as evidence. All suspects confessed to their involvement during the probe.

Further investigations are ongoing.
