GUWAHATI: Just hours before former foreign minister and veteran leader Sushma Swaraj breathed her last on August 6, she had thanked PM Modi for the Centre's move on revoking Article 370 and said she had been 'waiting to see this day in my lifetime'.

Taking to her Twitter handle Swaraj wrote, "@narendramodi ji - Thank you Prime Minister. Thank you very much. I was waiting to see this day in my lifetime."

Sushma Swaraj's last tweet was liked over 261.2K times and retweeted over 61.3K times till the filing of this report.

Earlier on August 6, former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj died at AIIMS hospital following cardiac arrest.

It is to be mentioned that a former Supreme Court lawyer, Sushma Swaraj had opted out of contesting elections earlier this year citing health reasons.

According to reports, an hour before she passed away last night, former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had asked prominent lawyer Harish Salve to visit her today at 6.00 pm and collect his Re 1 fee.

Salve had represented India at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

Host of dignitaries including leaders of opposition party paid their tribute to the fiery politician and an active social media user, who often responded on Twitter and intervened to help people seeking assistance.
