During his visit, Amit Shah is likely to meet Ananta Rai, the Koch Royal Scion, at Bongaigaon in Lower Assam. He will be accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during his visit to Koch royal scion Ananta Rai’s home at Bongaigaon.

Notably, six ethnic communities in Assam including the Koch-Rajbongshi have been demanding ST status.

However, there are no reports that Shah will attend any public meetings during his visit to Assam.

Earlier on January 23, Amit Shah paid a 2-day visit to Assam. During that last visit, Shah held two public meetings – at Kokrajhar and Nalbari.

With the term of the 126-member Assam Assembly ending on May 31, 2021, hectic politicking has begun in the state ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
