Cricket Club Of Dibrugarh Wins Assam Premier Club Championship

 

GUWAHATI: The Cricket Club of Dibrugarh emerged victorious in the final match of the 6th Assam Premier Club Championship, defeating Tengapara Cricket Club by 7 wickets in a rain-marred contest that was shortened to a five-over-per-side affair. The intense final, held at a packed venue, saw remarkable performances from both sides.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the Tengapara Cricket Club set a challenging total of 67/3 in five overs. Bikiran Das played an explosive innings, scoring 51 runs off just 16 deliveries, which included six sixes and three boundaries.

Gunjanjyoti Deka emerged as the hero for Dibrugarh, guiding his team to victory with a sensational 39 runs off 13 balls. His explosive batting helped Dibrugarh reach the target with two balls to spare, securing the championship title.

Gunjanjyoti Deka was awarded the 'Man of the Match' title while Parvej Musaraf of India Club, Silchar, was named 'Player of the Tournament' for his consistent contributions throughout the championship.

Individual awards were also distributed to recognise the best performers. Rohit Sen of Tengapara Cricket Club received the 'Best Batter' award, while Akshay Kumar Deka of Star Sporting Club, Nagaon, was honoured with the 'Best Bowler' award for his exceptional bowling.
