16 Minors Rescued From NF Railway

 

GUWAHATI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the North East Frontier (N.F.) Railway rescued 16 minors during recent operations conducted between April 13 and April 19, 2024. The rescues occurred during ongoing checks and drives at various trains and railway stations across the N.F. Railway network.

The RPF's operations in coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Childline/NGOs also led to the rescue of a total of 654 minors, including 409 boys and 245 girls, along with 69 women during the 2023-24 period. The rescued minors and women were subsequently handed over to the appropriate authorities for further legal proceedings. Additionally, 12 human traffickers were arrested during the same period, with 32 individuals (25 minor boys, 4 minor girls, 2 adult males, and 1 adult female) rescued from them.

In one notable incident on April 16, 2024, the RPF team at Chaparmukh, while conducting a check in train no. 15625 (Deoghar - Agartala Express) at Chaparmukh station, rescued a runaway minor girl. She was later handed over to the Child Welfare Committee in Nagaon, Assam, for safe custody.
