GUWAHATI: Around ₹209.7 crore worth of cash, liquor, drugs and other goods have been seized by various state and central agencies in the run-up to the third phase of Lok Sabha polls in Assam to be held today, May 7, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anurag Goel said here on Monday.
Total cash seized from March 1 to May 6 stood at ₹19.1 crore across the state, Goel said.

Various agencies recovered nearly 8.26 lakh litres of liquor, valued at more than ₹31.8 crore, he said.
The CEO said drugs worth ₹129.5 crore were also seized during the period under review.

Besides, ₹28.8 crore worth of precious metals were recovered by various state as well as central agencies, the CEO also said.
During this period, 3 weapons and 85 cartridges and explosives were seized by police and other security agencies. A total of 18,202 licensed arms were seized and 15315 licensed arms have been deposited to the authorities, the CEO further said.
Of 2611 non-bailable warrants received by the authorities, 1185 have been executed till 6 am on Monday, he said.
Goel informed that a total of 12 major poll-related cases have taken place across the state in the run-up to the third phase of elections.
The CEO's office received 221 cases of violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), of which 219 cases have been resolved and two cases are pending for disposal.
Meanwhile, an official release from Kamrup Metro district administration stated that the sleuths of the police and excise department have seized 61 thousand litres of country liquor worth ₹78 lakh in various raids conducted in Guwahati in the run-up to the elections.
Meanwhile, Kamrup Metro district commissioner Sumit Sattawan has declared a dry day across the district from May 5 to May 7(5 pm to 5pm).
“During this period the consumption, smuggling and sale of liquor will be strictly prohibited in the district. Wholesale and retail outlets and bars of all types of liquor have also been ordered to close. Any person or institution that violates the rules will be subject to action under Section 135(C) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and the Excise Act,” an official release here said.
“The administration has also announced dry day on the day of the counting of votes on June 4,” the release added.
