GUWAHATI: Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday, December 26 invited AASU Chief Advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya for an open debate Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
The response came after stand-up comedian and former journalist Abhineet Mishra, via a tweet challenged Sarma for a panel debate.
Reacting to Mishra’s tweet Sarma replied, “"I have already publicly requested Advisor of AASU Sri Samujjal Bhattacharya to join us for a debate in Srimanta Sankardebava kalakhetra on CAA, NRC and on the factual details of assurances given by Honble HM @AmitShah during his discussion with AASU leadership."
Meanwhile, protests against CAA are taking place all across the state and on December 26, the largest anti-CAA gathering took place at Tangla in Udalguri district under the banner of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU).
