Guwahati Traffic Police Tow Away 114 Unclaimed Vehicles To Clear Roads

GUWAHATI: Guwahati Traffic Police on Wednesday, January 22, announced that it successfully towed away 114 vehicles as part of its recently announced drive to address the issue of unclaimed and unattended vehicles cluttering the city’s roads.

Out of the 114 vehicles removed, 29 have been returned to their rightful owners after due verification. Another 34 vehicles have been handed over to various garages, while 49 were moved to designated parking zones.

Additionally, two of the vehicles were identified as stolen, and legal proceedings have been initiated in these cases.

The drive, which began on January 21, has encouraged citizens to report abandoned vehicles through multiple channels, including their nearest police station, the department’s official social media accounts on X and Facebook, or a dedicated WhatsApp number for faster response.

This initiative, aimed at reducing traffic disruptions and freeing up parking spaces, has been well-received by residents.
