GUWAHATI: Photos from April 25 show that large parts of the roads in Guwahati’s Beltola and Lastgate are occupied by street vendors. These include fruit sellers, food stalls, vegetable vendors, and clothes sellers among others.
In Lastgate, parked vehicles and roadside stalls leave little space for vehicles to move, leading to major traffic jams—especially after 5:30 PM. Many people also stop to shop, adding to the chaos.
On the way from Beltola to Lastgate, footpaths are also blocked by food stalls and parked vehicles, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road and making the situation worse.
