GUWAHATI: Guwahati is sweltering under a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring to a scorching 40°C on Saturday. The oppressive heat is making daily life uninhabitable for its residents, evoking comparisons to the capital city, Delhi, known for its extreme weather.

Adding to the woes is a sharp increase in pollution levels, mirroring Delhi's notorious air quality issues. "It's becoming harder to breathe and see each day," says a local resident. "We never thought our city would face such severe pollution."

Compounding the situation is a persistent water shortage plaguing several parts of the city. "We have to ration our water usage strictly. It's a struggle to get through the day," explains another resident affected by the crisis.

The lack of green cover intensifies the misery. "There are so few trees left, there's barely any shade to escape to," notes a concerned citizen, highlighting the urban planning challenges contributing to the crisis.

As Guwahati fights with these growing pains, its residents are left to weather conditions that seem increasingly reminiscent of life in the capital. The public is eagerly waiting for a blessing- rains.
