GUWAHATI: Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated with religious fervour and community participation across Guwahati on Saturday, April 12. Hundreds of devotees gathered at several Hanuman temples and roadside pandals across the city to offer prayers and take part in processions marking the occasion.

At Beltola, devotees of all ages lined up at the Hanuman temple premises, where rituals were conducted amidst traditional music and the sound of conch shells.
Lachit Nagar witnessed similar observance, with residents assembling around decorated marquees where bhajans and recitals from the Ramayana were performed. Volunteers assisted with maintaining order and distributing refreshments to participants throughout the day.
At Fancy Bazar, one of the city’s busiest commercial zones, celebrations were more elaborate, drawing large crowds. The main temple in the area was open from the early hours of the morning. Special lighting and floral decorations marked the occasion, with aarti performed at regular intervals.
Hanuman Jayanti, which marks the birth of Lord Hanuman, is observed annually on the full moon day of the Hindu lunar month of Chaitra. The day is considered significant by devotees for offering prayers to seek strength, courage, and protection from adversity.
