“In its journey towards renewable energy and sustainable development, NFR achieved an important milestone with the installation of 306.9 KWp Solar Power Plant at Uzanbazar Guwahati, inaugurated by Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, GM NFR on 10.04.2025,” NFR posted on X on Friday, April 11.

The plant has been expected to generate an average of 928 units of electricity per day. Developed under the Environment and Housekeeping Management (EnHM) fund, the project has been initiated to reduce dependency on conventional energy sources while ensuring operational efficiency.

According to an official statement, the ₹2.48 crore project was completed on March 7. The system is designed to supply power to the water treatment plant and extend electricity to connected infrastructure such as barges and jetties through a dedicated electrical network.

The plant has also been projected to result in an estimated annual saving of ₹30 lakh in electricity costs. With a payback period of eight years, this solar installation will remain operational for at least 25 years.
