A meeting was held at the Khanapara Veterinary Field on Friday, January 17, by Guwahati Commissioner of Police (GCP) Partha Sarathi Mahanta to discuss security arrangements for the same.

"A review meeting was held at Khanapara Veterinary Field led by the Commissioner of Police along with senior officers," shared Guwahati Police on X.

The meeting was attended by officers-in-charge of city police stations, Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP), and other senior officials.

During the meeting, strategies were outlined to ensure heightened vigilance and prevent untoward incidents during the celebrations. Key locations such as Janata Bhawan, Kalakshetra, and other state government offices will be under close surveillance.

Religious sites, including the Kamakhya temple, will also witness significant police deployment to ensure public safety.

Additionally, daily naka checkings will be conducted at prominent entry points across the city under respective police stations.

These measures are part of the police's efforts to avoid incidents similar to the Independence Day bomb scare last year.
