GUWAHATI: Lakhimandir Durga Puja Committee President, Bhagya Ram Terang has interestingly denied making of artwork display of Abhi-Neel Waterfall here today.
"We haven't exactly named it as Abhi-Neel Waterfall. That is a representation of simply a waterfall and beneath the waterfall, there are other artworks representing how blind believes and superstitions have been gripping the society. There are also artworks depicting man-elephant conflict besides the waterfall. This waterfall we have made here is simply for beautification feel", Terang said while speaking to G Plus.
Earlier on October 8th Karbi Students Union condemned making a pandal based on Abhijit Nath and Nilotpol Das.
"Some vested interests have been pressurising the government to change the name of Kangthilangso waterfalls to Abhi-Neel waterfall. This can create further tension among people. If the original waterfall name changes and people start making pandals after the deceased, the whole Karbi community would be ashamed" Karbi Students Union spokesperson, Sarkiri Rongfar and Harlongbi Kramsai said in a statement.
"Nobody will ever forget how the innocent boys were brutally murdered in Karbi Anglong. I don't understand why some union and some so-called organizations are so concerned now about the outcome if ever such a tribute on the deceased men are being offered on a public domain. Results of certain incidents would take their own course. Nobody can stop it," a senior resident of Lakhimandir said while recollecting the brutal murder of Abhijit Nath and Nilotpal Das.
"People have already started calling it Abhi-Neel Waterfall and boycotted Karbi Anglong in their minds. Lakhimandir Durga Puja Committee has done an outstanding job by thinking about this idea. Nothing can be as good as this tribute to Abhijit Nath and Nilotpal Das", a friend of Nilotpal Das said.

Das and Nath were lynched at Panjuri village in Karbi Anglong on June 8 by a mob on the suspicion over them being child lifters.
The Lakhimandir Puja committee retaining its tradition has been preparing artworks at Lakhimandir displaying burning social issues. It is observing Golden Jubilee celebration this year.
