GUWAHATI: In what came as a surprise for Ruby Baruah, who uses a twitter handle @25rubybaruah on Monday, the account stated that it has been temporarily suspended. Ruby doubts that the account, being a fan and supporter of the works of prime minister Narendra Modi (without party affiliation) led to the suspension. Interestingly, PM Narendra Modi had used one of the tweets from @25rubybaruah to quote during the Bogibeel Bridge inauguration.
Moreover, no valid reasons have been provided as to why the account has been restricted. The twitter handle had over 2800 followers and is a new entrant into the world of twitter.
Her account reads:
Caution: This account is temporarily restricted. You are seeing this warning because there has been some unusual activity from this account. Do you still want to view it?
This suspension comes on the heels of claims by ardent BJP and Modi supporter on Twitter, Tajinder Pal Bagga who has stated that there was a conspiracy to suspend certain right wing twitter handles.
Another source in the Twitter world has repeatedly said that Twitter account suspensions will become common for Modi supporters as the election day nears. This according to the source is being done at the behest of Congress Twitter handles by complaining about a particular account.
At the moment, it is not clear what has led to the suspension of @25rubybaruah as the user is not sure enough to provide personal details as to who might be accessing the account on the other side. This action by twitter has got other NaMo followers to sit up and take notice and raise it in the social media platform. This sudden restriction has not gone down well with these independent supporters and they feel that Congress trolls are behind this whole game.
Talking to G Plus the handle @25rubybaruah stated that the account has not been tweeting anything abusive or derogatory. Only tweets and re-tweets on whatever was already there in the twitter world has been done. There is no such tweet in the account that can attract suspension claims @25rubybaruah. Also, the user feels that the use of the account’s tweet by the prime minister might have made the account a valuable soft target.
