Guwahati dist admin starts preparation for Ambubachi mela

GUWAHATI: The district administration of Guwahati has begun preparations for Ambubachi mela, the annual religious festival of Assam that will be held at Kamakhya temple from June 22-26 this year.

Talking to G Plus, deputy commissioner Kamrup (Metro), Biswajit Pegu, said “We have already held a preliminary meeting with the heads of all departments on May 17.”

He added that to ensure the convenience of pilgrims, a team of the district administration along with other officials on May 18 visited the temple and inspected the route through which the pilgrims will come and pay visit to the main temple.

“I along with a team of head of departments physically visited the main locations to ensure that the pilgrims have a safe and easy access to the temple,” informed Pegu. 

He further added that six camps will be set up for the visitors of the mela.
