Guwahati: Brahmaputra Flowing Above Danger Level Amid Third Wave of Flood

GUWAHATI: The water level of the Brahmaputra River has crossed the danger mark and is currently at 49.80 meters high near the DC Court gauge site in Guwahati. 


The latest bulletin issued by the Guwahati East Water Resource Division confirms the same. The danger level is marked at 49.68 meters. Water at the Bharalu Sluice gate is also flowing higher than the danger point at 49.62 meters.


The third wave of flood-hit Assam with few days of consistent rain in the last week. As per the Assam State Disaster Management Authority's (ASDMA) report of 29th September, the river Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Guwahati (Kamrup), Neamatighat (Jorhat), Tezpur (Sonitpur), Jia Bharali at NT Road Crossing (Sonitpur), Kopili at Kampur and Dharamtul (Nagoan).


With 12 districts affected by the third wave, the total death toll has increased to 120. More than 2.78 lakh people have been affected.
