Guwahati Airport's New Terminal to be Operational by 2021

GUWAHATI: Airports Authority of India (AAI) which is constructing a world class new integrated passenger terminal building at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport is expected to be operational by 2021.

It is to be mentioned that the new terminal building will be equipped with all major facilities.

In a  meeting addressed by Arvind Singh, (IAS) Chairman, Airports Authority of India on his maiden visit to Northeastern Region reviewed various projects and operations of NER Airports at the AAI regional headquarters, NER Guwahati on 26th Feb 2020. 

It is to be mentioned that India is poised to become the third largest aviation market in the world in coming years and most of the airports in the world are expanding their existing structure to cater the need of future, similarly NER airports are also growing in terms of passenger movement and developing aviation infrastructure is need of the hour. Recently, to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, new greenfield airport at Holongi (Itanagar) will be constructed soon and work for it have been awarded. 

Meanwhile in 2019 the passenger movement at the LGBI Airport has already crossed 6 million mark, making it one of the most busiest airport in the northeast region.
