Meghalaya CM Extends Condolences To Three Youths Burnt To Death In Rongmil

 

GUWAHATI: The Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma has extended his condolences on the account of the death of three youths from Goalpara, who were allegedly burnt to death in the East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

CM Sangma has condemned the act of violence and appealed to the public of both states to refrain from engaging in repercussions and violence.

Sangma has assured that investigations into the matter are underway and justice will be delivered to the bereaved and their families. 

Three youths from Goalpara, Assam were allegedly burnt to death by unidentified miscreants in Meghalaya, on April 17 at Wageasi in the East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

The deceased were identified as Jamor Ali (35), Noor Ahmed, and Zahidul Islam (25), residents of Goalpara's Dolguma.

They were hired for some important work by some unknown persons in Meghalaya, and they had left home on the late evening of April 15.

On April 16 at about 06:30 AM, the family members received a call from Jomor Ali that they were having breakfast in a jungle area somewhere in Garo Hills.

However, the mobile phones were found switched off and the family members were not able to contact them.

The burnt bodies of the three were then recovered in the forests of Wageasi. 

The missing vehicle they were travelling in was located inside a dense jungle near to village Link Road connecting Rogu Alda village under Rongjeng PS, East Garo Hills District, around 1.5 km from NH-217 connecting Dudhnoi - Damra - Rongjeng - Baghmara.

The PO was visited by the Police and found the missing vehicle in burnt condition inside the forest.
